Do You Ever Think Like This?

Good Morning,  

Today’s #MondayMotivation post is a thinker.

Have you ever heard the saying ‘You are what you think’?  Of course you have, but have you ever actually acted on this knowledge?  In most peoples cases the answer is either a ‘no’ or ‘sometimes’.  Your mind set can move you forwards or it can hold you back and such simple and trivial changes can make a whole world of difference.  So why wouldn’t you act on this knowledge?

So do you ever think like this?

  • I’m not fit enough to do…
  • That problem is too tough…
  • I can’t do that because of…
  • My situation is bad because…
  • Things would be better if it wasn’t for…
  • I’m not talented enough for…
  • I don’t know enough about…
  • It’s someone else’s fault I’m…
  • I’ve not got enough of…

How often do these come out of your mouth?  I’m hoping not very often and you may say you don’t say things like this, but have you ever stopped to listen to yourself and actively watch what you say?  You’ll be amazed if you do turn a little awareness to what you say, you may just hear yourself saying things you didn’t even realise you were saying.  Now I know that sounds stupid, of course you know what you’re saying.

Ok so here’s an example: I asked a client, who will remain nameless, to listen to the language they used for a few days and to report back to me in a few days and to tell me what they found.  I could see quite early on with this person they were always on the lookout for all the bad things that were lurking around the corner.  But they believed they had a positive outlook on things and that it wasn’t his mindset which was holding him back.  They came back to me after a couple of days and they couldn’t believe how they would always be seeing the negative side of situations and how their language was more often than not focused on the problem itself rather an solution.

Start thinking like:

  • How am I going to get fitter for…
  • How am I going to solve…
  • I can do that if I…
  • How am I going to improve…
  • How am I going to learn…
  • How am I going to get more of…
